About the course at

The Club At Sonterra

The Club At Sonterra features two 18-hole championship golf courses, which offer unique settings and challenges: North and South Course(s). Designed by Bruce Devlin & Robert von Hagge and built in 1985, the North Course has rolling hills as far as the eye can see with beautiful 419 Bermuda fairways, Mini Verde greens and beautiful waterfalls. The South Course appeals to the traditional golfer; a Press Maxwell design, built in 1954, among acres upon acres of large oak trees, with its Tif-Eagle Super Dwarf Bermuda greens and heavily tree lined Bermuda fairways.

  • Note from PGA Director of Instruction, Tim Hobby

I like to teach within a philosophy, not a system, because it gives me more flexibility to work within an overall framework to fit each students needs.  It is extremely important to assess each student’s ability, goals, and commitment level. After that, we can discuss a game plan and practice regimen that will allow the player to be successful.  All aspects of the game will be discussed and evaluated. Those include driver, fairway woods\hybrids, iron play, wedge play, putting and most importantly the mental game. My goal as an instructor is to help you lower your score and enjoy the great game of golf!

    Short Game Instruction:

Did you know the quickest way to lower your score is to improve your chipping, pitching, putting and bunker play?  There are some key fundamentals to a well-rounded short game, along with numerous practice drills that will quickly lower your score.  Statistics prove that for most golfers, almost half of your shots are considered short game shots. Proper technique and focused practice time will have you on your way to lowering your score and having more fun.

    Playing Lessons\Course Strategy:

Playing lessons with an accomplished PGA pro is a great way to reduce your score without even changing your swing. Tee shot strategy, approach shot strategy, trouble shot strategy, short game strategy and pre shot routine are just a few of the areas that most golfers are not implementing into their game. Most playing lessons are (2) hours long and are highly beneficial to lowering your score.
